If you want an Anxiety-free day, start with your Morning Rituals.
Start by creating a space for peaceful mornings. Making sure you are not over extending yourself at the start of your day.
Just a little bit of space and peace in the morning will really affect the overall day you will have.
The Practical Morning
Now I am not going to tell you to wake up in the morning with the sun, because you have to practice what you preach. But I am not a morning person, I would love to wake up at 5am and drink lemon water, and do yoga right away, but hey I live in the real world. And so do you. So let's not get into the fantasy world of self care. I do wake up around 8-8.30 and I do other stuff. So if you are like me and you really want to know how to have a calm and peaceful morning to have a magical day. Then keep reading.
If you are an anxious person you probably get morning anxiety thinking you have to do all the stuff for your family, kids, and also keep yourself healthy and fit, especially if you are working from home or a homemaker. I get it. Mornings are pretty busy and really really chaotic if both of you are working and need to go to office and kids need to go to school, or just living with your family and doing all the chores or even if you are single and still can't find time to do things for yourself, then this post is for you.
Step 1- Change Your Perspective
First things first. Morning is not the time to worry about all the stuff you need to do today, or what to make for breakfast, lunch, dinner or evening breakfast, or even last minute changes in the presentation you need to give today. If you start your day with this, everyday will be an anxious day. Mornings are supposed to be clean slates, new beginnings and time to feel positive vibrations in your body and your soul because that's how your rest of the day is going to be.
Step 2- Own your Mornings
Now remember, Morning is how you set the tone for the rest of the day.. So make sure to have a positive and anxiety less day you feel your best. Mornings are not only for you to get ready and go to office in a hurry or your spouse to to rely on you for every little thing, or your kids to have everything done for them. No. Mornings are yours too. Your day has a morning too. You just need to own it. Why should your mornings suffer because of your family? Of course your family needs you, but they shouldn't need you for everything.
Step 3- Set Clear boundaries
If you want some peaceful time in the morning by yourself, you will need to delegate with your spouse or your family, or with yourself if you are single. You would need to set clear boundaries. You shouldn't do everything or everyone's chores, thats how you giveaway your energy. Do things that they really need you for, and step away. Let them do their things. Its how kids learn to be self sufficient and so does your spouse. If you live alone you can section your time and spend sometime enjoying the new day.
Affirm to yourself " I AM GOING TO SPEND SOME TIME IN ABSOLUTE BLISS ENJOYING THIS NEW DAY." " I am going to give myself the gift of breathing. Breathing in the the new day and new opportunities."
Let the Light In
The first you must do is open all the windows and let the beautiful sunshine in. The sunshine of the new day is an excellent source of positivity and inspiration. Soak in those lovey sunny rays to let your brain know it's time to wake up. Its actually a great boost for our brain and the added benefit of vitamin D. Also opening windows early morning is said to bring good luck and new opportunities your way. So don't just go straight to your coffee, let the light in.
Set an Intention
You can have anything you want if you set an intention for it. When you wake up carve out a time for yourself where you set an intention for the day.. Setting intentions is different than to do lists, to-do list is tasks you have to do or achieve. Intention setting is what you want to do or achieve, and most importantly how you want to feel. If you set an intention to feel good about yourself no matter what, trust me that's what is going to happen.
Make time for your Tea/Coffee
My favorite Ritual is to have my coffee in absolute peace. I do not like to be disturbed while I'm having my coffee. I don't want to talk to anyone or hear anything just me & my coffee. I make sure that I get that peaceful time in the morning. Even if I have to wake up earlier. Or I have my coffee after doing my morning chores. But I like to sit quietly and just enjoy this moment. It really is my recharge moment. What's your recharge moment? What's the thing that you love to do in peace in the morning. Make it happen.
Include Yoga or Stretching
Yoga is the ultimate activity that can connect your body, mind and soul. Yoga can be really helpful in releasing all the stuck emotions and anxiety with the help of flow of the poses and movements. Infact I would recommend you do include it in your morning routine because it's excellent for anxiety and mental clarity.
Do Meditation
Mediation is how you listen to your inner wisdom, inner self, your shadow self. Connecting and honouring your shadow self without judgement or doubt is how you achieve your authentic self. Usually anxiety stems from not accepting your true self, or denying your heart's desires and limiting yourself to others' perspectives. But Meditation can help you grow your intuition and and understand your anxieties better.
Go for a Walk
Walking is a great exercise to stay fit and healthy for the heart. Also getting outside in the morning is really incredible for the brain. Our brain is typically wired to be outside in the green, which is a soothing colour and signals our brain to be calm and relaxed. If you go for a walk in the morning, try to be somewhere with more greenery.
Breathwork or EFT
Breathing is an excellent form of soul connection. Deep breathing is really helpful in alleviation of stress and strengthening mind body connection. There are techniques of breathing that you can try. EFT tapping is also very helpful therapy used to balance your disrupted energy. To lower anxiety, stress and resolving fears.
Morning Pages
Morning pages could be anything you wish, gratitude, intentions or just plain journaling. Interestingly you could also include scripting in your morning pages. Scripting is a form of manifestation journaling where you write what you want in past tense, as in, the things that you want have already happened. You could use this method to have a positive start to your day.
Try some Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy or using Essential oils at the start of your day is going to put you in a spiritual mood and more connected to your spiritual self. Using Essential oils while doing yoga or meditation is very helpful and beneficial, especially if you are doing any kind of deep breathing. Or just lighting some aromatherapy candle can also enliven your senses at the start of the day.
